Dainty Flowers DSP Another Mountain Fun Fold Card

Here’s another Mountain fun fold card I created recently. This one uses the DaintyFlowers DSP (printed paper pack). This paper pack was one of the free items available with a $50 purchase during Salebration earlier this year (Jan-Feb 2023).

The greeting on the belly band is from the retired Flowers of Friendship stamp set and the large sentiment in the center of the card is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set, also retired. The card base is Old Olive and the mat layers are Fresh Freesia. If you’d like the dimensions for this card so that you can make your own Mountain Fold card, please check my earlier blog entry about the Mountain Fun Fold. I’ve included some rough photos of my card’s template there.

And if you're interested in a 6x6" Sampler DIY Card Making Kit that includes all 6 of the beautiful double sided papers in this printed paper pack, please see my Etsy shop at www.kikumidesigns.etsy.com

Pampered Pets meets Animal Talk for a masculine birthday card

I received an order the other day, for a masculine hand made card. Nothing fancy but with a cat on it was the request. So I dug out some recently retired DSP (paper pack) called “Playful Pets” and the coordinating “Pampered Pets” stamp set. And then I remembered that I still had an  old stamp set called “Animal Talk” and decided it was time to pull that one out again. The “Animal Talk” stamp set was perfect except for one thing.

And since I love making fun fold cards for special people, I decided on a simple but fun design called a center step card. With only a single rhinestone and no ribbon (cuz generally masculine cards don’t do bling and ribbon). Here’s how the card turned out:

This card measures the same as the standard A2 card (5.5 x 4.25”) but the side panels are recessed which makes this card totally 3D! The cat “message” was a thank you sentiment but the dog one said “happy birthday”. So I used the first part of the cat “talk” and the second part from the dog “talk”. Here’s what the card looks like opened up.

Hmm….but you still don’t see the 3D effect! So here are a few photos of a blank card base in white, front and back, if you can imagine that with printed paper and words:

And in the event that anyone is interested in making one, here are the cutting and scoring (fold line) dimensions (score lines are shown as dotted lines):

Let me know if you try this, or want to but have difficulties in reading the dimensions, etc. Thanks, as always, for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Mountain Fold Fun Fold cards - Awash in Beauty DSP - Birthday & Sending Hugs/Friendship

On a roll with these mountain fold cards. When I made my very first one, I thought “this is too complicated”. But I LOVED IT so…I made a second, and a third and by the end of the evening, I had made 8 of them! I ran out of DSP so I didn’t get to finish them all (I was out of town and crafting in a hotel room in the evenings). So some were finished at home a week later. These are the ones made with the Awash in Beauty DSP:

I kept forgetting however that the card base is 8”! But by the end of the evening,  I had that down. Here’s a super rough diagram of the cutting and scoring dimensions (click on any photo to zoom in):

The belly band is 1” x 9” strip, scored at 2” and 6.25”. I glued the edges where they overlap in front and adhered my sentiment on top, hiding the seam. And that’s it for today. Hope this has inspired you to create something and have some fun. Thanks for stopping by!

Art Gallery floral cards: 3 cards, two designs & 3 color palettes!

I love the Art Gallery photopolymer stamp set and its coordinating dies (Floral Gallery Dies) AND the now retired Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. The stamp set is neat since it is a two step stamps…one stamp has the base floral image and a second has detailed shading and accents. Since the stamps are photopolymer, they are clear and you can stamp the detailed accents exactly where you want it to be superimposed over the base floral image. Though honestly, if you stamp it off to the side accidentally, it STILL looks great.

I wanted to use blues and teals for the flowers instead of the typical red and pink. I matched it with a gray/teal design from the Fine Art Floral DSP and added Basic White embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

And here is another rendition of the same card. This time the background DSP is from the new Fancy Flora DSP and is a soft lilac, This is what the same card looks like with a different color palette:

And last but not least, an unfinished card without sentiment. It’s difficult to photograph gold foil and the piece on the right edge of the card is also gold foil, although it looks black in this photo. I’m thinking this will eventually be a birthday most likely, but it’d also be suitable for a “thinking of you”, or a congratulations card with all the wonderful gold foil! In any case, a fun card!

Please let me know if you have any questions about techniques, ink colors, or need any measurements. Thanks for stopping by!
