Hand Penned Friend card

Hand Penned is a stamp set with coordinating dies from the current 2022-23 Stampin’Up! catalog. The DSP paper pack retired but the stamp set is still available and there are more and more pins with cards featuring it every day! I absolutely love this set and have used it many times. I recently found the set of card bases and matching envelopes so I created the following using some of my last pieces of the DSP pack:

The "friend" sentiment is from the "Happiness Abounds" stamp set, which is also another fave! (I can't believe I haven't posted any pics of cards made with this set or the beautiful paper pack...except that I haven't posted many cards at all period.)

The butterfly die is from my stash and creates a nice focal. Tiny pearls add a touch of elegance, but oh so subtly.  I’ll be adding these cards to my Etsy shop soon. Please visit at KikumiDesigns.Etsy.com if you’re curious.

Thanks for stopping by! Have an amazing day!

Fun with a barista name badge

A fun mini project: decorating a name badge for my favorite barista! I had done one for the holidays but now that the holidays are over,  a new one was in order. Since it rains a lot in winter here in western Oregon, I decided on an umbrella. But with Valentine’s Day coming up soon, I wanted to add some hearts. I found a cute paper with green hearts on it so I die cut the umbrella out. But somehow the light green hearts didn’t show up enough so I grabbed my markers and colored on top in pink. Then added a heart on the other side of the name tag. Here’s how it turned out:

Look for a barista with a tag like this at your local coffee shop. Tell them you saw the blog post❤️

PS Here's the holiday name tag I had made:

Sending Good Wishes Paper Pumpkin Kit 2022-07

I somehow can’t seem to do the Paper Pumpkin kits when I first get them. It’s typically months later when I finally get around to making them, if at all! (The exception was last year’s HoHoHo Christmas kit). I don’t get them every month, only when the theme appeals to me. But I still have a backlog of Paper Pumpkin kits needing to be created. So hopefully this is the start to using the kits up: here are the cards made with the kit from last July:

I think part of the special finishing touch to a hand made card is adding something inside the card as well as on the envelope. You can see the envelopes in the photos and the same images were stamped inside as well. Such a fun kit!

Sunshine & Rainbow DSP cards

Reorganizing my craft supplies recently, I came across this DSP pack, which was a freebie with purchase during Salebration I think last year at this time! I thought it was high time to create with it.

I wanted to create a cheery get well card for a neighbor who had an unfortunate fall recently and was recovering from surgery. Thought this DSP pack would fit the bill perfectly! I picked two coordinating prints, selected Polished Pink as the card base then fussy cut the rainbow and clouds from other sheets in the DSP pack. Added the sentiment and some rhinestones and this basic Z-fold was the finished product:

So once I got this first card Z-fold card done, I created several more, some with get well wishes and others  for birthdays (it’s always good to have something in one’s stash of cards!)

This Z-fold card design is pretty basic but if you’re a new card maker and would like some measurements to help you create this type of card, please contact me using the side bar link.

Thanks for stopping by. Hoping you’re inspired to create something fun today.

Black and pink floral birthday card with Hand Penned Flower Dies

Oh my, it’s been a while since I posted. It’s definitely not that I haven’t made any cards in the last month or two but just no time to post anything! And then after the holidays is the usual required clean up of an  incredibly messy craft room! Mostly done but I got fed up of cleaning up so the last bits remain cluttering the craft table while I decided to work on something else.

With the reorganization and clean up of craft supplies after the holidays, my stash of pretty DSP (Designer Series Paper)  caught my attention! Especially some straggling last pieces that I couldn’t just toss in the recycle bin.  So I’ve been trying to use up those supplies! And oh, there’s a new mini Catalog that just got released….Let me just say that it’s way easier to buy craft supplies than it is to use them up…So I made a concerted effort to use up the last few sheets of a pretty black and white Hand Penned DSP that I had laying around.

I hadn’t done a black and pink card in a long while so I decided that would be the theme of the last few sheets of this paper pack. I paired it with Polished Pink card stock and a die cut from the Penned Flower Dies is the focal on the front of the card.

The Happy Birthday greeting is from the Heron Habitat stamp set. A few pink embellishments and a bow tied finish off the card.

And I try to put something coordinating inside the card as well as on the envelope…usually it’s simple like a stamped image or an extra strip of the printed paper…

And on the envelope, I added a die cut from this set:

This is the Hand Penned bundle of stamps and Penned Flower dies. It’s one of my all time favorites and I’ll no doubt be posting more cards using this wonderful set:

Hope you enjoyed reading about one of my recent creations. Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful day!
