Peaceful Dock Father’s Day standing front panel card

Ah life has been extra busy these past few months so…whoops…forgot to finish posting several blog entries! Including a perfect Father’s Day card! I love fun folds but they don’t have to be complicated and this one is a simple one that stands up nicely and yet folds flat into an A2 sized envelope.

To make this card, the card base is 8.25” x 5.5”  (note that this is .25” shorter than the standard 8.5” page width! I’ve made this card several times and tend to forget to remove .25” off of that end each time!!!). Then score the card base at 2”, 3” from each edge. Fold the 2” score as a valley fold (a “V” shape) and the 3” score as a mountain fold (the opposite direction). And then use a bone folder to get a crisp fold. The folded card base should fit easily in an A2 envelope.

I used an older DSP in my stash that looked “masculine” but don’t know the exact name. I adhered two panels on each side that measured 1.75” x 5.25”. The background of the front is 1 5/8” x 5.25” and the slim panels between the sides and front (which you can’t see in these photos!) is 3/4” x 5.25”.

The front panel is 3.75”x3.75” and I stamped it with the row boat from the Peaceful Dock stamp set.

And on the back I’ve adhered a white panel 4 x 5.25” and attached it only on one side of the back so that it will allow the card to stand freely, but also fold and fit into the envelope:

I’ve made this card design several times and even made a bunch for donation! It’s easy and it’s fun. I hope you try it!

Latte Love coffee card

Ever get a stamp set (or other craft item, like some pretty fabric for example) and get all anxious about using it? That was this “coffee” based set for me. So I brought it on vacation. And yes I did make this card but I realized that I couldn’t use any of the wonderful dies since I hadn’t brought the right colors of cardstock! (Oh well, I can revisit that when we get back LOL. )

Anyhow so I needed to use mainly the DSP (A Little Latte #163453) and stamp set (#163455) for this card. No problem - Pinterest always provides  plenty of inspiration! And since I love fun fold cards, I decided to create a triangle flap card that has a smaller notecard attached.

I decided to fussy cut from the printed DSP the coffee cups with the artistic milk foam…I love when a barista has some fun adding an artistic flair to the coffee foam💕 I chose two different (double sided) DSP prints for the triangular pieces so that all four triangular pieces would be different. And then I adhered the center panel and added a partial coffee cup on the bottom

Last but not least was the sentiment, from the Latte Love stamp set, die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies (#159183)

And with a bit of twine underneath the sentiment, this card was done! Perhaps a neutral color gem or matte dot might be nice but I don’t bring them along. Stay tuned for more cards with this set!

Gone Fishing pinwheel fun fold

Stampin'UP! has a fun outdoorsy masculine stamp and die bundle in their current catalog called Gone Fishing, with a corresponding Designer Series Paper pack too. I had fun creating a card with it at my friend's card class recently and wanted to share this neat fun fold:

The card base is simply a 4.25" x 5.5"panel of card stock. The neat part of course is the pinwheel fold. And when you open the pinwheel, this is what you see inside:

It’s always a bit tricky figuring out how to close up the pinwheel…LOL Bit isn’t that sentiment just perfect?? The lure is die cut from silver foil card stock and the fish is fussy cut out from the DSP…

And no, there isn’t any space to write much of a personalized message on the front of the card. But you can write on the back. Know anyone who would LOVE this card? Or who loves fishing in general? Then this stamp bundle is made for you! Contact me if you'd like help ordering it..

have an awesome day and thanks for stopping by!

Mountain Air

I love this masculine/gender neutral card! It reminds me of a famous phrase by Ansel Adams: “the mountains are calling and I must go”!!

The card base is Crumb Cake and the Mint Macaron mat layer is embossed with the Trees 3D Embossing Folder. I’ve sponged the blue skies in Balmy Blue and stamped the mountains using Crumb Cake. The trees were stamped using Pretty Peacock (retired) and you’ll notice that I’ve stamped using the “stamped off” technique to give the illusion of trees fading into the distance. Another stamped set of trees were die cut and the knotted twine (from my craft stash) added a finished touch to the card.

This card is available for purchase while quantities last from my Etsy shop at https://KikumiDesigns.Etsy.com

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Lovely & Beautiful DSP fun fold

A shoutout of thanks to Rachel Tessman for her tutorial on this card design. It looks like a horizontal book binding card but when you open ...
